Programs

NV Knights Baseball- how it works:

Tryouts;
Tryouts are held after winter clinics, on the weekend of March 5th. Tryouts are managed by professional paid coaches. Assessments are driven by skills demonstrated at the tryout plus a review of each players past body of work. No parents are permitted in the tryout area. Tryouts cost $20 per session to pay for rental and coaches.

Spring season;
Players, once chosen for a team and paid in full, will attend spring team practices starting in early March. Spring season typically begins the last week of March or first week of April, weather permitting and the teams play games on Sunday for 8 weeks. Teams will practice at least 1x per week in the spring, and will be scheduled by the head coach. Schedules are typically not released until the last week of March. Players in 7th and 8th grade who make their respective school baseball teams are strongly urged to also play town recreation baseball (typically weeknights and Saturday), but are not required to do so.

Summer season;
Players who did not play in the spring season and want to tryout for one of the NV Knights summer teams must notify one of the trustees, a team manager or head coach of their desire to play for the NV Knights no later than May 1st. Any player who wants to play summer travel baseball will be permitted a one on one tryout with the head coach of the team he/she wishes to play. In the event there is more than 1 interested player, a group tryout may be required. Players from spring season will be notified of any requirement to tryout by end of spring season. Spring players are NOT guaranteed a spot in the summer. Summer season may require players to commit for 1 or more tournaments, which will be decided upon by the team manager and head coach. Summer season games are typically held on weeknights and weekends, although recently some leagues have pushed games to weeknights only. The season begins after the 1st week of June and runs through the end of July, with most playoffs and championship games being completed by end of July. Most teams will practice 2x per week. Players MUST make NV Knights summer baseball the #1 priority for recreation activities.

League selection;
Teams will be assigned to a league according to their overall skill levels which is generally chosen by their manager and Head Coach for the spring/summer.
Team managers will make every effort to schedule games so that there is no interference with local town recreation games and practices. The NV Knights Baseball requires that all players ages 9u-12u play town recreation baseball. In the event a player makes the school team ages 13u/14U (typically 7th grade and 8th grade), NV Knights strongly suggests those players make best effort to play on town recreational baseball as well as the NV Knights travel team. Coaches and managers will work with those players to facilitate a “best possible scenario” schedule during the spring.

Beyond summer season – Cooperstown Dreams Park tournament;
Our teams have played in the Cooperstown Dreams Park tournament for the past 2 summers and will attend this nationally recognized tournament again in 2016. This is a 12U tournament and is certain to be the highlight of every little leaguer’s youth baseball experience. Please speak to a NV Knight trustee or the 12U head coach to inquire about available spots for this prestigious annual tournament. Payment in full for every player and coach is expected by March 1.
